Don’t know what to do with little free time + try to move away from scrolling phone. 📱Try these mind-less activity ideas!
So often, when we have little gap time whether it’s waiting for an appointment, just recently finished working, or we don’t know what to do at any point during our time in the day. We just resort to scrolling phones. I myself as well.
As we all know excessive social media consumption is not good for us, so I start to prevent myself from doing that. So, I start to find other things to do. That’s when I resort to putting more effort into my creations whenever I am free (and I feel like I have enough inner well filled up or else if my inner well is depleted, I try to fill them up first).
Then, I noticed that I might be excessively putting effort into my creations and not surrendering enough for the soul to come in to guide or speak through. It’s not what I actually want. I want to still make the process of creating ‘in flow, natural, effortless’ (but didn’t mean that I didn’t put any action) as much as possible just like the water flow, she knows where she’ll go ‘she still moving’ without trying or forcing too much.
So, then now I am in the phase of exploring and being curious about what can I do when I have any kind of free moment during the day.
I realized that most of our days in our current society were spent devoting to mind-based activities. It seems that our mental body has been constantly activated all the time. I couldn’t agree more with this phrase from Mei-Lan, the intuitive singer, in her newsletter.
And then things start to get out of balance.
I feel that to nourish ourselves properly, all of our elements must be properly cared for, or we need to create some sort of relationship with them every day.
And especially the soul part/etheric body or what name resonates with you, it is the most subtle part that is so easy to neglect!
I thought back to the time when my life was mostly framed with mind-inducing activity. I realized that it’s pretty hard to allow a soul to fully explore possibilities and tap into her full capacity/potential.
Think of when you get the best creative solution/ideas when you are in the shower! You allow that creative force/intelligent force to flow thoroughly without any agenda or frame of mind to obstruct them too much. This is the power of allowing more space for other parts of you to roam and play!
So today I thought I would share some ideas for a ‘mind–less’ activity to do in my free time. Cause when I start exploring and researching this topic, I can’t think of anything. Surprisingly, I didn’t know what to do in my free time because my life was so cramped before. I didn’t know what I would do in my free time other than going out (and honestly, I found that I even went to hangout just to ‘bypass’ internal turmoil that I didn’t want to cope with inside), open my laptop to watch things, scrolling, or surfing the internet. Those things that either disconnect our body, emotions, and soul or induce too much - overstimulating mind activity.
I hope these ideas might be something you can adapt to your life, so you create more space for your body, emotions, and soul to roam beautifully. Just like we wouldn’t hold a child back from exploring the world (if it’s not dangerous to them it’s ok) I’m on this journey to explore these new possibilities as well so feel free to share your ideas by commenting below and it can be beneficial to others who reading this as well!
1. Intuitive drawing in my pocket little notebook/ipad.
When going out and having some time to wait for the appointment, this is very convenient. I know some people who are very good at iPad drawing. This could be when you let your intuition fully roam!
2. Stretching
If you are like me approaching 30s, sedentary lifestyle for most of my life, you can feel that your body stiff very easily. This is an easy quick practice to connect with your body more throughout the day. During lunch break, just wake up. You can do it when you’re short on time. I like to do it before bed especially to relax our body before bed.
3. Reading book
This one is tricky for me because many books are too much information for me. It’s not bad at all. But I prefer to induce mind less so, I need to choose it wisely. These days I tend to let my intuition choose the book and it mostly end up with something that less mind inducing automatically (because that’s what I need right now). I put kindle in my bag on the go, so I can read whenever I have little free time. Right now, I am into the work from Rebecca Campbell and Paul Millerd, the writer of pathless path. If you interested, I would recommend please check them out. They play quite a huge role for stepping up to my soul path. Huge inspiration and acting as my company on walking on this path.
4. Exercising/Body Work
Your body will be so appreciated if you take care of them. Instead of watching another YouTube clip or another 30 min. of TikTok scrolling, you can get up and do an exercise or yoga (I love). It could be just easy, short exercise anyway that you’d like. It’s like you have time to at least talk with your body even just 20-30 minutes/day.
5. Meditation
I love this the most. I like to lay down and relax during meditation after finishing some work. It induce me into another stage and letting my mind subside a bit.
6. Just doing nothing
Observing the surrounding, witnessing real life. People walk pass by or things around you without really thinking. I found that just dazing outside seeing trees and green areas is when the best idea or the idea that feels right to me pop in.
Please feel free to suggest any more ideas that you’ve been doing to spend your free time in the mind-less way! I’d love to hear more ideas and it could be beneficial for others who looking into this topic as well!
